Revelstoke Dog Found After 5 Days Missing
What began as a heartbreaking five-day search in the vast wilderness surrounding Revelstoke ended in joy, relief, and overwhelming gratitude. Thanks to the combined efforts of the community, cutting-edge drone technology, and the sharp eye of drone operator Noah Bodman, the missing pup was spotted and safely reunited with its owner.
Earlier this week, during a live test of Nova’s new real-time streaming feature, Hummingbird Drones team member Noah Bodman was able to locate the dog that had been missing for five days. The terrain in Revelstoke is expansive and unforgiving, making traditional search efforts challenging. But thanks to aerial reconnaissance, thermal sensors, and Nova’s innovative streaming tools, Noah was able to locate the missing pup and assist in a swift reunion with its very relieved owner.
The dog’s owner, Erin Mennie, was moved beyond words. Her deep gratitude for the efforts of the community, the search teams, and Hummingbird Drones turned into something extraordinary: a donation of 200 GPS collars for dogs in Revelstoke. These collars will be shared with local hotels that allow pets and distributed across the community, with the hope that no other dog—or pet owner—has to go through the stress of a missing animal.
“I’m in absolute awe of everyone in Revelstoke for their kindness, generosity, and hospitality. My sons and I want to pay it back.”
This mission was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when combining technology, training, and teamwork in moments that matter. It’s a story of community, innovation, and a whole lot of heart.
Noah’s success in this search is a testament to the capabilities of Nova and Hummingbird Drones, and his specialized training. As part of the FlySmart Training program, our SAR Drone Technician courses are designed to prepare operators for exactly this kind of real-world mission. Whether it's supporting emergency response, reuniting lost pets with their families, or mapping critical wildfire perimeters, the right training makes all the difference.
